Summary of meeting of telecommunications and rural development professionals from across the United States held to review the status of rural telecommunications and to recommend courses of action to advance the field.

Discussants sought to examine status and potential policy improvements in the telecommunications industry in Kentucky’s rural landscape. Topics that stood out of discussion included the need for rural persons need to be included as stakeholders in the process of technical and economic development, ways to prevent out migration of youth, allowing private-non profits to instigate growth in the technological sector as to avoid a typified ‘political agenda’ when seeking to improve technological innovation.
