States Newsroom is the nation’s largest state-focused nonprofit news network, providing free, non-partisan reporting on policy and politics from every state capital—without paywalls, ads, or pop-ups. Established as an independent 501(c)(3) in 2019, it supports affiliated nonprofit outlets through funding, editorial collaboration, and digital tools, ensuring reliable coverage in an era marked by shrinking local journalism. The network’s reach spans 39 state newsrooms directly and partnerships in all remaining states, including a DC bureau and the Stateline platform, enabling scalable, quality state-level reporting.
