The Native Nations Institute at the University of Arizona is advancing the movement for Indigenous data sovereignty by centering Indigenous authority, governance, and rights in research and policy. Through recent publications on topics ranging from the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance to the ethical implications of genomics, the Institute highlights how reclaiming control over data is inseparable from self-determination. This work underscores that data stewardship must align with Indigenous values, cultural protocols, and community standards. Aspen CSG shares this commitment to centering community-defined priorities in systems change, recognizing that durable solutions emerge when the people most impacted have the authority to shape how information is generated and used.
