Launched by Governor Evers’ Executive Order #65, the Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity was designed to elevate local perspectives on Wisconsin’s economic challenges and opportunities. Through virtual listening sessions during the pandemic and broad input from business, civic, and community leaders, the Commission produced the Rural Voices for Prosperity report in 2020. Its recommendations now guide the Office of Rural Prosperity, offering a roadmap for strengthening economic activity and quality of life across rural Wisconsin. At Aspen CSG, we view this kind of state-level, community-driven commission as a powerful example of how resident voice, institutional support, and shared vision can align to advance rural prosperity and long-term systems change.
