CF Leads On Community Leadership

CFLeads’ Framework for Community Leadership lays out the essential building blocks for community foundations to practice effective, consistent leadership. Originally developed in 2008 and refined through updates in 2013 and 2021, the Framework emphasizes not just institutional capacity but also the central role of resident engagement. Integrated into CFLeads’ Community Leadership Field Guide and linked with practical assessment metrics, the Framework helps community foundations move beyond grantmaking to play catalytic roles in shaping thriving, equitable communities. At Aspen CSG, we see this kind of structured, values-driven leadership framework as vital for rural and regional foundations that are building trust, mobilizing resources, and driving long-term systems change in partnership with their communities.
