Partners for Rural Transformation (PRT) is a coalition of six community-based organizations working across Appalachia, the Mississippi Delta, the Deep South, the Rio Grande Valley, Native American lands, and the rural West. Formed in 2014, PRT’s vision is bold: to eliminate persistent poverty by creating persistent opportunity. Together, the partners channel capital, expand advocacy, and build local capacity to counter the legacies of slavery, displacement, resource extraction, and systemic underinvestment. Their work spans housing, health, small business, infrastructure, and leadership development—always rooted in community needs and voices. PRT has influenced federal policy, secured philanthropic investment, and raised the visibility of rural and Native communities. By advancing both investment and advocacy, the coalition reframes what’s possible: transforming rural places long marked by poverty into thriving regions of shared wealth, cultural vitality, and agency.
