The Rural Health Mapping Tool, developed by NORC at the University of Chicago with support from the CDC, provides county-level data on COVID-19 vaccination, cases, and hospitalizations alongside a broader “prosperity index” built from sixteen measures of well-being. With options to filter for rural counties, generate fact sheets, and download datasets, the tool equips leaders and policymakers to better understand local conditions and tailor responses. By combining health outcomes with socioeconomic indicators, it helps rural communities identify needs and target resources more effectively. This place-based, equity-focused approach mirrors Aspen CSG’s commitment to making data accessible and actionable for rural leaders as they design development strategies rooted in community strengths.
